Passive UHF RFID tag manufacturer Omni-ID has unveiled its next-generation technology platform, featuring a number of changes in both design and functionality to its line of on-metal products.

According to Omni-ID, the next-generation technology platform includes the following:

  • Global Broadband Standard and Operability: Omni-ID tags will be “optimized” for global frequencies in accordance with EPC Gen2 Protocol, providing functionality across all geographic regions.

  • Patented Plasmonic Structure: Omni-ID has updated the plasmonic structure of their tags to theoretically allow for improved scalability, repeatability, and higher tolerances, thereby minimizing variation and improving its use as a broadband technology.

  • New Coupling Structure: Omni-ID’s new custom “loop” antenna is designed to improve the capacity for solid state quality.

  • Migration to High Memory Silicon Chip: Omni-ID’s RFID tags will contain a new silicon chip to add additional user memory and improve performance.

  • Omni-ID has geared its next generation line toward use in the manufacturing, transportation/logistics and defense industries.

According to Omni-ID, their next generation line is already in action. The Omni-ID Max Pro tag is being used in a European automobile engine tracking pilot.
