The New Belgium Brewing Company is adopting an RFID asset tracking solution by Fluensee to help track, manage and improve the utilization of its 150,000 kegs.
New Belgium will implement Fluensee’s browser-based AssetTrack application and passive RFID technology to provide better visibility to its keg fleet, monitor fill-to-fill cycle time for each keg, track the length of time a keg spends at a given distributor, as well as record a distributor’s keg return rates.
New Belgium will track its kegs by placing passive RFID readers on the fill line of each keg. The readers record the keg’s contents, the date of its filling and other information. The data is then sent automatically to Fluensee AssetTrack for monitoring.
The system provides New Belgium with real-time information about which kegs are being filled most often and with what brand of beer. This information will help New Belgium develop a new, more efficient distribution plan. Additionally, with the new system the brewer will be able to tell which customer is responsible for damaged kegs–a cost New Belgium will no longer have to incur.
